Matthews finished six tenths of a second behind Deveau at the line. In a battle of Island drivers, Byrne was able to hang on to the final podium position over Matthew Ford, who was third on Saturday evening.

Notes: Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) captured both Legend features on Saturday night to take another SpeedWeekend victory at 660. Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS), who honored his father who passed away eight years ago, had a spirited battle with Langille in the second feature event but came up just short with a second place finish in the 30-lap final and the overall result. Former SpeedWeekend Legend winner Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea, NS) scored two top five finishes which landed him third overall in the event. The combined 50 laps of action took just 21 minutes to complete.

Notes: Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) scored the overall win in the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero Blast on the strength of two second place finishes. Both feature winners, Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE) and Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River, NS) suffered mechanical issues in the race opposite of their wins. Wooldridge’s victory broke a three way tie for second overall in the event. Brooke Dowe’s (Bedford, NS) heat race performance over the two days earned her third overall over 2019 event winner Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS) and Will Murphy (Summerside, PE). Fourteen cars competed on the weekend.

Notes: Chris Wilson (South Esk, NB) and Yves McCray (Neguac, NB) each raced their way to their SpeedWeekend moments with wins on the Atlantic Modified Tour for the weekend. Wilson won the non-points Bryn Enterprises 35 on Friday night while McCray’s win came in the third point race for the Series on 2020, the Krown Rust Control 35. The Series is next in action on Saturday at Speedway Miramichi during the Fairley’s Sports Bar 35. For a complete recap of both events, visit www.AtlanticModifieds.com.
