Format, Date Changes for Mike Stevens Memorial Event August 25, 2015 Regional RIVER GLADE, NB – Management at Petty International Raceway have announced a change in their that will see the second annual Mike Stevens Memorial event split into two weekends to end off the racing season. The Pro Stock and Sportsman portion of the weekend will remain on the date originally scheduled, September 26 with a 4 p.m. start time. The Sportsman 100 will serve as the final point event for the Petty International Raceway Sportsman division while the Pro Stock event will bring the best in the Maritimes together for a 150-lap showcase of short track racing on the 1/3-mile high banked oval. The Atlantic Modified Tour will also join the two Late Model divisions for a 35-lap feature. The major change comes for the race that was scheduled for Friday, September 25 – now moved to Saturday, October 10 at 4 p.m. The card will feature Twin 25-lap features for the Leisure Days RV Bandoleros, a 50-lap Mister Transmission Mini Stock feature and a 75-lap event for the CMax Street Stocks. The card will also feature a 100-lap Sportsman feature. The Leisure Days RV Bandolero, Mister Transmission Mini Stock and CMax Street Stocks will decide their point champions with these extended lap features. The change comes for a number of reasons, says Petty Raceway co-owner Craig McFetridge. “With the addition of the October 10 event, it allows us to have a rain date for the September 26 race if needed, and also allows us to run extended features on the October 10 date as opposed to having it on a Friday night when the temperature may be a bit more chilly compared to an afternoon start.” The October 10 event also serves as the last major race card in Atlantic Canada for both the Sportsman and Bandolero divisions and final extended lap features for the Mini Stock and Street Stock divisions in the region. Petty International Raceway will also be the only stock car track in the Maritimes running on both September 26 and October 10 dates. With this, car counts from across the Maritime provinces are expected to be high for both events. The Flea Market, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 10 at Petty International Raceway, has been canceled. Petty International Raceway is located on Highway 106, just 40 km west of Moncton, New Brunswick.
