Firecracker 150 for Sportsman at Speedway 660 on Saturday July 22, 2016 Regional GEARY, NB – Speedway 660 hosts the Clark Chevrolet Firecracker 150 this Saturday night at 6:30. Many of the best Sportsman cars in Atlantic Canada will invade the Geary Woods for one of their biggest races of the season. Dave O’Blenis, who has won the last three Firecrackers, has to be considered one of the favourites heading into the race. “It’s great to win these big races, but it’s not easy because you have to really make sure your car is ready for 150 laps and you have to make sure you are physically and mentally prepared as a driver,” said O’Blenis who won the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 125 earlier this season. “And even if the car and driver are up for the challenge, you really need things to go your way in the race because one flat tire, one little mechanical issue or one incident on the track can take you out of contention in one of our region’s biggest sportsman races of the season.” The 2016 edition of the Firecracker 150 marks the return of a former marketing partner to Speedway 660. Clark Chevrolet Cadillac was involved in racing in Geary back in the 1990’s but hasn’t been a sponsor at the track for several years. “We’re really excited about having Clark Chevrolet Cadillac, who is celebrating 100 years of automotive sales and service, support racing and sponsor the Firecracker 150” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “The Clark Chevrolet Firecracker 150 is one of the most important sportsman races of the season in Atlantic Canada and it sure is nice to work with the folks from Clark’s to bring our fans this race.” Race fans will also see the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stocks and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters on Saturday night. Adult ticket prices are $20; Youth tickets, for kids between 13 and 16, are $15 and adult pit passes are $5. Admission is always free for fans 12 and under. The rain date for the Firecracker 150 is Sunday at 2PM. If the weather is unsettled on Saturday morning fans and race teams should call the race line at 506-454-7223 or visit www.speedway660.com for race day status updates. Speedway 660 is off on the long August holiday weekend, before returning with a busy month of racing. The next event, after this weekend, is a weekly championship point race which takes place on August 6th. Speedway 660 is one of Canada’s premier stock car racing facilities.
