Features Only Show Saturday at Petty Raceway September 9, 2021 Regional After over a month off, Petty International Raceway returns to racing action with a busy night of racing on Saturday, September 11th. A whopping nine divisions will take to the track on Saturday evening, most of which will have extended lap races to thrill the fans. The Atlantic Modified Tour will also make an appearance for Round Nine of the point championship. Racing begins at the River Glade, New Brunswick oval at 4pm. The magic number is 50 as six of the nine divisions will run 50-laps of feature competition on Saturday. Leading the way are the AE McKay Builders Late Model Sportsman and the Street Stocks, who are accustomed to running longer races on the high banked bullring. The Late Model Sportsman division in New Brunswick has seen Alexandra O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) set the tone with three major victories over the last month. She has two victories at Petty Raceway including the Old Fashion Meat Market $5K in August. The division will have to be on their game if they want to add their name to a Late Model win list in 2021 that also include Kenny MacKenzie Jr (Salisbury, NB) and Laurie Cormier (Riverview, NB). The Street Stock division has seen four different winners in as many races in 2021. The most recent race saw Brad MacLean (Black River, NB) capture a $5,000 payday in the Stuff Your Stuff Storage 100. Mike Weagle (Steeves Mountain, NB) raced his way to a River Glade International title in July with Maritime Street Stock Series point leader Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) and Evan Lane (Salisbury, NB) starting the season off with the victory. With 50-laps on the board and the Mike Stevens Memorial on the horizon, this Saturday’s show will serve as a tune-up ahead of next Friday’s major event. The Eastern Powder Coating Legend cars return for the third time this season for a 50-lap feature. Cory Hall Racing has taken home the first two events for the house division with Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS) and Brad Eddy (Lower Sackville, NS) taking the first place honors. Fans will see a triple dose of Four Cylinder racing action with the Mister Transmission Mini Stock, Kings County Performance Women on Wheels and visiting Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters. Rob Poirier (Irishtown, NB) has been tough to beat when he is on his game in the Mister Transmission Mini Stock division. Poirier is the only multi-time winner this season in the division at Petty International Raceway with three feature victories. The Sharp Shooters are domestic race cars and will be governed by the Speedway 660 rulebook. Both divisions will compete in separate 50-lap features on Saturday while the Kings County Performance Women on Wheels will see 20-laps of competition. The Leisure Days RV Bandoleros will compete in Twin 25 features on Saturday. The Bandolero division across Atlantic Canada has been competitive but the hot hand has been held by Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS). MacKay, a winner already this season at Petty International Raceway, swept the Bandolero Blast at Speedway 660 last weekend and has a recent victory at Scotia Speedworld. Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction, NS) has won three of the six races in the Bandolero division so far this season with Caden Tufts (Timberlea, NS) picking up his first Outlaw win at the track in July. The Beginner division will contest Twin 15-lap features on Saturday. The Atlantic Modified Tour will contest Round Nine of their 2021 championship season with a 35-lap feature. Travis Conroy (Miramichi, NB), who won the Season Opener in July, enters Petty International Raceway as the point leader with just three races to go in the season. As per their procedures, they will contest heat races on Saturday evening. For a complete preview of the race, please visit AtlanticModifieds.com. Grandstand admission prices for Saturday’s event are $20 for adults and $10 for youth aged eight to 18 with children aged seven and under admitted for free. Pit admission is $25 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Pit gates open at 10:30am, grandstand gates open for spectators at 2pm with qualifying getting underway at 4pm. Camping is available on a first come, first serve basis. Get ready race fans! The Eighth Annual Mike Stevens Memorial is on tap for September 17th and 18th. Two full days of racing is capped by the $10,000-to-win Super Late Model 200 with over two dozen cars pre-entered. Watch for the expected entry list to be released from the race track on Monday afternoon following the Petty Race Night on September 11th.
