Cross Roads Legends Tour Starts ’23 Season Saturday at Scotia Speedworld May 18, 2023 Regional After a long Maritime winter, the cars and stars of the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour are ready to race into the 2023 season this Saturday afternoon. Scotia Speedworld, outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia, is the host for Round One of the Series, the MacDonald Automotive 50. The race is a part of the 36th Anniversary Season Opener weekend at the 3/10-mile oval with the green flag flying on Saturday afternoon, May 20th at 4pm. Last season brought us a battle between three rising stars of the sport. Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS) edged out both Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) and Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS) for his first Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour championship in just his second full-time season of competition with the Series. Among Mahar’s victories last year was one during the first stop at Scotia Speedworld, a victory he will look to defend Saturday during the MacDonald Automotive 50. Mahar will be challenged throughout the 2023 campaign by several familiar faces, including his father Daryl (Hubley, NS), Brad Wadden and his sons Brayden and Devin (Hammonds Plains, NS), Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River, NS), Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS) and sophomores Kelsey Hann (New Glasgow, NS), Teagan Dempsey (Fredericton, NB) and Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE), just to name a few. Registrations continue to roll in with several drivers expected to show up on race day to add to the already stout list of talent on the Tour. There has been a buzz heading into the 2023 season with an influx of new drivers making the move from the Bandolero ranks to the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour. Upwards of a half dozen drivers will compete with the Series this season and be eligible for the Rookie of the Year Award. Scotia Speedworld Bandolero Champion Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction, NS) and Petty Raceway Bandolero Champion Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS) lead a crop of freshmen that also include Caden Tufts (Timberlea, NS), Chase Livingston (Springhill, NS), Dawson Noble (Upper Nine Mile River, NS) and Campbell Delaney (Halifax, NS). Samantha MacDonald (Dartmouth, NS) will also make her Legend car debut in 2023 while Andrew Burgess (Lake Echo, NS) and Stephen Piccott Jr. (Donaldston, PE) are also primed to hit the track with the Tour this season. With the duel setting up between rookies and seasoned veterans, this will be a season long battle for the ages. The battle will begin at Scotia Speedworld and race on to a total of five venues in 2023. In addition to Scotia Speedworld, the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour will visit Riverside International Speedway in James River, Nova Scotia, Petty International Raceway in River Glade, New Brunswick, Speedway 660 in Geary, New Brunswick and Oyster Bed Speedway in Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island. It all begins with the MacDonald Automotive 50! For a complete race day format, ticketing and event information, please visit Scotia Speedworld’s website at www.scotiaspeedworld.ca.
