Blenkhorn Issues Apology; Putting Penalty in Rear View Mirror September 16, 2016 Regional Dylan Blenkhorn, driver of the pro stock No. 67, issued a statement issued yesterday via Facebook in reaction to all the scuttlebutt since he was penalized for a parts infraction after the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour (PST) race at Petty International Raceway on August 27, and then parked in a series race at Riverside International Speedway last weekend after a fight in the pits with fellow racer George Koszkulics (also parked). Blenkhorn was leading the PST point standings with a comfortable margin prior to the first penalty, after which he dropped to the fifth spot overall. He fell from fifth to ninth after the Riverside penalty. Last week in an interview with the Truro Daily News Blenkhorn indicated his team would fight the rules penalty but according to his statement, they will not be pursuing the issue any further. As the driver of the 67 car I would like to clarify a few issues from the last few weeks on the pro stock tour. I would like to apologize to my fans, family, pit crew, Tony Quinn Flooring and the tour members that our axle discrepancy became such an issue and that’s all on me. That should have stayed an issue between me and the tour but the social media involvement of others created a bigger deal. Other teams got some negative feed back from social media and they had no involvement and didn’t deserve these public opinions, and even I said some negative comments in the anger of the moment that I shouldn’t have. For years Cole (Butcher) and I have been friends away from the track and I know how hard he and his team work for the same goal as we do. I do think the tour was doing their job but wish it could have been handled more professionally. We will not be pursuing the axle issue any further. I’m proud as the 67 driver and how hard everyone worked this year and how close we were to winning the championship. Finally I would like to apologize to George (Koszkulics) and the 88 team for the Antigonish altercation, I am embarrassed about how I handled my frustration. I would also like to apologize to Donald Chisholm for the way social media was so quick to judge his team without the facts because we know they also work as hard as our team. Unfortunately we will not be attending this weeks race at Scotia Speed World but wish good luck to all teams and whom ever the new champion will be. We will see everyone at Petty New Brunswick the weekend after with the 67 car. Over the off season we will be working harder then ever and making our stuff even better then this year. – Dylan Blenkhorn Cole Butcher moved into the PST point lead after Butcher’s Petty penalty and now holds an almost insurmountable 51-point lead over Donald Chisholm heading for the series season finale at Scotia Speedworld on Saturday. If there are no more than the 19 cars on the expected entry list, Butcher need not even start the last race of the year to be declared champion; if there are 21 cars or more then Butcher needs to finish 21st or better to win his first title, no matter what anyone else does. EDITOR’S NOTE: Kudos Dylan Blenkhorn – well said.
