RIVER GLADE, NB – Petty International Raceway is set to host the second annual Caleb Dunn Memorial event this Sunday with seven different divisions racing nearly 400 laps of competition. Highlighting the event is a 100-lap Napa Cmax Sportsman feature and a 50-lap Petty Pro Stock feature. The Petty Street Stock division will see Twin 25-lap features, and the Leisure Days RV Bandoleros will run Twin 20’s. The Mister Transmission Mini Stock’s will have a 30-lap feature. Also on hand will be the Eastern Mini Cups and the Atlantic Modified (formerly AOW) series, with competitors from both series vying for valuable points as their championship seasons pass the half-way point. All seven divisions will have heat races to determine the starting grids for the features. The Petty house divisions will also be battling for points with just 11 points separating the top two in all five divisions and two more shows after this one to determine overall champions. Courtney O’Blenis and Adam Meehan are tied for the Bandolero lead, JR Lawson leads Brad Daley by a mere five markers in the Mini Stocks, Ken MacKenzie Jr. holds a two point advantage over Alexandra O’Blenis in the Street Stocks, Russell Smith Jr. is just two points ahead of Luc Bourgeois in the Sportsman, and Chris Duncan holds a two point advantage over Ken MacKenzie in the pro stocks. The Caleb Dunn Memorial is in tribute to a local racing legend, the late Caleb Dunn. Mr. Dunn won more than 200 races in an amazing racing career and his accomplishments were formally acknowledged in 2006 when he became a member of the inaugural Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame. He was honoured on the Moncton Wall of Fame in 2001. Caleb Dunn passed away in 2012 at the age of 84. Dave O’Blenis is the defending winner of the sportsman leg of the Caleb Dunn Memorial. Racing starts at 4 p.m. Sunday. Grandstand admission on just $20 for adults, youth tickets (eight to 18) are $10, and children aged seven and under will be admitted free.
