Back-to-School Spectacular Planned for Rierside Season Finale August 30, 2023 Regional JAMES RIVER, NS – The season finale at Riverside International Speedway on September 9 will be a Back-to-School Spectacular offering free grandstand admission for everyone 17 & under, along with loads of fun for the whole family. Children 12 & under will have the chance to ride in a race car during Kiddies Rides as part of the pre-race festivities and the name of the new track mascot will be unveiled, there will be a photo booth – and more. “With this promotion, we want to thank families for their decades of support at Riverside,” said Joan Roue, manager at Riverside. “We’re also mindful of the rising cost of everything these days so we want to make it easier for families to attend and celebrate the start of the new school season. We want them to have a great time and create lifelong memories. Riverside has been a family-friendly facility for over five decades; this will help to continue building that legacy for generations to come.” As part of the Back-to-School Spectacular promotion, Riverside International Speedway is proud to sponsor the Youth Singing Competition at this week’s Eastern Nova Scotia Exhibition in Antigonish. The competition is Thursday at 6 p.m. and besides cash prizes, the top three will receive a family pass for the September 9 event at Riverside and the opportunity to showcase their talent as part of the pre-race festivities at the Back to School Spectacular. Fans have a chance to win a family pass for the event as well by suggesting a name for the new mascot via info@riversidespeedway.ca. A beaver was chosen since the facility is located at the corner of Beaver Mountain and Beaver Meadow Roads. The mascot debuted at the August 19 event and was an instant hit with kids and adults alike. Name suggestions are being accepted at info@riversidespeedway.ca until Monday, September 4. Racing action will feature the Modern Pumps & Metals150 for the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour, the NAPA/Henry’s AUTOPRO 100 for the Auto World Allstar Sportsman Series, and the Whispering Winds Campground Twin 40s for the Dulux Paint Street Stocks. All three divisions will see heat races set the field for their respective feature races. The pro stock race is round 11 of 12 for their season, the sportsman race round five of six, and the street stock series will crown its inaugural champion. The grandstand gates open at 2 p.m. on September 9, pre-race festivities with Kiddies Rides and the Youth Singing Competition winners start at 3 p.m., and racing starts at 4 p.m. Adult tickets and pit passes for the Back-to-School Spectacular are available starting August 29 at www.riversidespeedway.ca; they’ll also be available at the gate on race day. Free grandstand tickets for 17 & under will be available only at the gate on race day – age ID may be requested, and all must be accompanied by an adult. There is plenty of free spectator parking on-site. Free camping is also available for the weekend; first-come, first-served in designated areas only.
