The Atlantic Modified Tour is back in action this Saturday night, August 28th when the Series heads to Petty International Raceway. The Tim’s Corner Motorsports 35 is round 8 of 12 on the 2021 season and the second of four scheduled trips to the high banked bullring in River Glade, New Brunswick. Racing action kicks off at 4pm.

Travis Conroy (Miramichi, NB) returns to Petty International Raceway with the championship point lead on the Atlantic Modified Tour. Conroy kicked off the 2021 season in June with a victory in the Season Opener and has been battling for the point lead ever since. In one of the most comfortable margins he has had all season, he leads defending Series champion Yves McCray (Neguac, NB) by 22 points. Even with a fifth place finish at the Blackville Auto Parts and JBS Towing 35 at Speedway Miramichi, Conroy was still able to pad his point lead with McCray finishing one spot behind him in sixth. Both drivers have previous wins at Petty International Raceway and will look to add another victory on Saturday evening.

Joe Hoyt (Waasis, NB) has been making a push as of late to put himself in the championship conversation with five races to go. Hoyt, who won the Kamizo Transport 35 at Speedway 660 at the beginning of August, was able to follow up the performance with a podium finish during the last event at Speedway Miramichi, edging out Chris Wilson (South Esk, NB) for the final podium spot. Hoyt enters just six points behind McCray for the runner-up spot in the standings.

Braxton Stafford (Miramichi, NB) enters the Tim’s Corner Motorsports 35 as the most recent winner on the Atlantic Modified Tour. Stafford became the sixth different winner in seven races by securing the win in the Blackville Auto Parts and JBS Towing 35 at his home track of Speedway Miramichi on August 7th. Stafford heads to Petty International Raceway as a former track champion in the Modified division and has one win at the track in Atlantic Modified Tour competition. He will look to rekindle old magic and newly built momentum for a win Saturday evening at the high banked bullring.

The only driver to compete in all seven races this season without a win is Miramichi’s Zean Dutcher. It is a statistic the former River Glade International champion will look to change this Saturday evening at Petty International Raceway. Dutcher enters just 30 points out of second in the standings with five point races remaining on the Series and holds the fifth place point spot by a single point over Doug Matchett (Miramichi, NB), who is a former Mike Stevens Memorial weekend winner in Atlantic Modified Tour competition.

The Rookie of the Year battle is a close one with Michael Savoie (Tracadie, NB) leading Brody Levesque (Lincoln, NB) by 16 points. Savoie suffered mechanical problems during the first race of the season at Petty International Raceway while Levesque did not answer the call to green in June. With both having limited experience at the track, this event could be a turning point in the freshman brawl on the Tour.

Kevin Bailey (Minto, NB) will make his first Petty International Raceway start of 2021. Bailey paced the field for the first half of the Blackville Auto Parts and JBS Towing 35 in Miramichi before being shuffled out of line late in the race. Jamie Weston (St. Martin’s, NB) returns to the Series after motor issues sidelined the No. 81W from competition after Round Three at Speedway 660 in late June.
