HALIFAX, NS – It’s a special evening this Friday for the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series as the Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman will race in the prestigious AJK 50. Also on the racing card are the Bluenose Pools Beginner Bandoleros, Strictly Hydraulics Legends and Toursec Mini Stocks. Gates open at 5:00pm with racing slated for 7:00pm.

The Fourth Annual AJK 50 is a marquee event for the Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman. With a purse of over $5,500 on the line for the Sportsman drivers, as they race in memory of Alex Kocken, this race carries not only an increased purse courtesy of Miller Brothers Racing and several supporters but the prestige of becoming an AJK 50 winner. Deven Smith (Lakeside) is a two-time winner of the event while Pete Miller (East Gore) was the winner of the event in 2022.

Speaking of Smith Brothers Racing  – they have not lost a Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman feature in 2024! Point leader Russell Smith Sr (Lakeside) held off 2019 East Coast International Pro Stock Tour champion Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro) in a frantic finish one week ago to collect the On Site Heavy Duty Rust Control Bounty worth $1200. Smith Sr. has five victories this season while his son Deven has four plus the Maritime All Star Series (MASS) 100 win in June. Smith Sr. is the point leader with a comfortable 52-point lead over Alex Johnson (Enfield).

With the Superior Foundations 100 on the horizon, several teams will use this marquee event to tune up for the first of two extended distance races for the Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman in the month of September.

Q104’s Bobby Mac will be joining Tim Terry in the booth on Friday for what is sure to be an entertaining call of the nights events!

Adult Grandstand tickets for the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series are $20.00, Youth tickets (8-15yrs) are $5.00. 7 and under are FREE all season at Scotia Speedworld events! Tickets for the Pit area are $25.00.
