MacDonald Gets Legends Tour Win in PEI July 8, 2019 Regional OYSTER BED BRIDGE, PE – Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS) returned to victory lane on Sunday afternoon at Oyster Bed Speedway in Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island during the Maritime League of Legends Tour Island ICF Incorporated 50. The race, which ran on Sunday following two previous weather delays, served as the second of ten rounds on the Maritime League of Legends Tour for 2019 and was also an INEX National Qualifier. “That was something,” said MacDonald after climbing from the No. 98 in victory lane. “I was glad it went green because I saw Braden starting to reel me in. Sometimes they say it’s better to be lucky than good, today I guess I was better lucky than good!” MacDonald raced to the Island ICF Incorporated 50 victory after starting sixth in the 50-lap, caution free affair. Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) followed up his season opening win with a second place run at Oyster Bed Speedway, finishing less than a second behind MacDonald. Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS) held off Emily Meehan (Rawdon, NS) for the final podium position at the finish. Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS), making his first Maritime League of Legends Tour start, came home fifth in the 15 car field. MacDonald (Semi Pro), Braden Langille (Pro), Rogers (Young Lion) and Darren Sherwood (Masters, Cambridge-Narrows, NB) not only pick up Fleet Brake Atlantic Class Bonuses but also receive eligibility for provisional starting positions at INEX Winter Nationals at Carteret County Speedway in North Carolina in October following their finishes in the Island ICF Incorporated 50. MacDonald and Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS) brought home heat race victories. In a race that saw two rollovers, it was Danny Chisholm taking home the win. Chisholm, who did double duty on the afternoon between both INEX sanctioned divisions, inherited the lead when Dylan Dowe (Bedford, NS) and Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS) were both penalized for two false starts with two laps to go in the feature. “We were told to go at the line (in Turn Four) for the restarts, they (Dowe and Gilby) weren’t doing it, so I think the tower made the right call,” said Chisholm of the call that put him on the pole for the final restart. “It was a great race. We had a fast car all weekend and it showed today.” Will Murphy (Miscouche, PE) raced to a strong second place in the final two-lap dash to the finish, holding off top Bandit Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS) for the runner-up spot overall. Gilby recovered to a fourth place run with Brooke Dowe (Bedford, NS) rounding out the top five. Eleven cars took the green flag in the Maritime League of Legends Tour Bandolero feature, which took 28 minutes to complete. Heat races were won by Chisholm and Dylan Dowe. ICF – Insulated Concrete Forms – is basically a Styrofoam form that is filled with concrete and creates a very strong and efficient exterior wall system for houses, apartments, warehouses, etc. With the rise in energy costs, specifically home heating, this has turned out to be a good move for us especially since there are few builders on the Island using this product.
