Legends Tour Races to Prince Edward Island Saturday July 28, 2016 Regional The Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour heads to picturesque Prince Edward Island on Saturday evening for the third race of their eight round series as part of the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour show at Oyster Bed Speedway in Oyster Bed Bridge. It is the only stop for the Legends tour on the Island this season. After two races, the Farrell’s Racing team and their #48 car lead the championship standings. Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) and Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) have combined to give the team 188 points through the first two events and the total places them in first place heading into the Island Coastal Services and Steve’s Snow Removal 50. Farrell is expected to be behind the wheel of the #48 Farrell’s Excavation car in what will be his first start at Oyster Bed Speedway. “Miss Rawdon Rocket” Emily Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) is second in the standings, just nine points out of the top spot. Meehan was second in the season opener at Scotia Speedworld behind Blenkhorn while she came home eighth in the Maritime Legends Challenge at Riverside International Speedway, which was won by Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS). Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS), reigning Canadian Masters Legends champion, sits third in the standings, just four points behind Meehan and three points up on former Canadian Semi-Pro Legends champion Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS). Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS) leads the Rookie of the Year standings over Shane Lively (Middle Sackville, NS) after two races. MacDonald runs fifth overall in the series while mechanical issues have plagued Lively and the #22 Cars R Us team over the first two races. The event is expected to include Charlottetown driver Gary Dunning, who made his 2016 debut at Riverside on July 15. Dunning is a veteran of Legend car racing and will be behind the wheel of his familiar #33 car. Pit gates open for competitors at 1:30 p.m. with racing beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the gate on race day.
