HALIFAX, NS – John Flemming is getting closer to finalizing plans for Flemming Motorsports 2016 season. The five-time champion has had to regroup after a fire destroyed his race shop and all contents on March 21. Happy Harry’s will be the primary sponsor on the car. Flemming hopes to run a limited schedule himself, circling the four biggest races in the Maritimes on his calendar: the IWK 250 at Riverside International Speedway on July 17, the Atlantic Cat 250 at Scotia Speedworld on August 13, the Irving Blending & Packaging 250 at Speedway 660 on September 4, and the Dartmouth Dodge 200 at Scotia Speedworld on September 17. While this is Flemming’s wish list, his plans won’t be finalized until closer to the events. “Right now we’re focused on fulfilling our commitment to DJ,” said Flemming. “Once we get that program up and running we’ll be in a better position to see what we can put together for me.” Flemming announced at the season-ending PST banquet last year that Casey would be in Flemming’s familiar No. 97 for 2016, with the five-time champion serving as a coach for the young driver who turned heads in a limited schedule pro stock effort in 2015. The season opener for Flemming Motorsports with DJ Casey behind the wheel is May 21 at Scotia Speedworld with the Lucas Oil 100.
