New Sponsor for Scotia Speedworld Sportsman Division April 6, 2016 Regional Scotia Speedworld is pleased to announce a new partnership with Affordable Fuels & Metro Home Heating. Affordable Fuels & Metro Home Heating will become the new title sponsor of Scotia Speedworld’s Sportsman division, the marquee division in the Scotia Speedworld Weekly Racing Series. The Affordable Fuels & Metro Home Heating Sportsman division has produced some of the best Late Model type racing in the region in recent seasons and continues to attract some of the top talents in Atlantic Canada to Scotia Speedworld. Competitors from Fredericton, New Brunswick to Victoria, Newfoundland, and all points in between made laps in the class in 2015, but when the dust settled it was Russell Smith Jr of Lakeside, Nova Scotia that took home a lion’s share of the glory. Smith is not only the reigning champion in the class; he took home the Dartmouth Dodge 100 and the Shriners Classic. The Affordable Fuels & Metro Home Heating Sportsman division will make their season debut on Sunday, May 22 during the Scotia Speedworld Weekly Racing Series Season Opener. Short track fans are encouraged to circle Friday, July 1 on their calendars for the 22nd Annual Shriners Classic and Friday, August 12 for the Affordable Fuels & Metro Home Heating 100. In addition to the two headlining events the class will run extended 50-lap features on Friday, June 17 and Friday, August 19.
