Thunder 50 Expected to Highlight Friday’s Show at Speedworld August 13, 2015 Regional The Chickenburger Thunder & Lightning cars will take centre stage at Scotia Speedworld this week as they do battle for 50 grueling laps. The Thunder drivers will also be vying for their $500 in prize money. The Thunder feature winner will receive $250, second place $150 and third place will receive $100. The Chickenburger Lightning cars competed for their $500 purse at the Twin 50’s event back in July. Also racing under the lights this week are the Hydraulics Plus Bandit & Outlaw Bandoleros who will each have a 25 lap feature. The Strictly Hydraulics Legend cars also will run a 25 lap feature. Admission for is just $12.00 for Adults; Youth (8-15) are $2.00 and children 7 and under are free…all summer long. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. Grandstand gates open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00PM. Please note only Thunder drivers who have competed in at least 50% or four of eight Weekly Racing Series events this season will be eligible for the posted prize money. Scotia Speedworld (SSW) is a 3/10-mile asphalt oval racing facility. SSW is the only track in Nova Scotia to host a weekly racing series, which runs May through September and features six different classes of racecars. SSW also hosts special events, including Monster Jam and the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. SSW is located at Exit 6 on Highway 102, across from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
